Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience:
  • 10 years of IT experience
  • 5 years of SAFe / Agile / Scrum usage experience
  • 3 years as Release Train Engineer (RTE) and / or Scrum of Scrums Lead
  • Experience with the management of individual releases of software, hardware or other system components
  • Experience in working with Agile teams and Agile development practices, including sprint planning or grooming, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and daily scrum
  • Experience with converting customer requirements into user stories with defined acceptance criteria, including designing or developing deliverable storyboards
  • Experience with documenting releases and risks and maintaining the schedule of planned releases.
  • Experience with working on a multi-discipline project teams through all phases of the product development to ensure successful execution

Education/Certifications/Clearance:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific /technical discipline (or 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Must be a certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)
  • Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust.

Responsibilities

This role will serve as part of the team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with the implementation, integration and sustainment of a fully integrated supply chain solution that provides the full spectrum of medical logistics. The Supply Chain delivers clinical care to Veterans by managing the logistics and flow of supplies and equipment. Supply Chain Management (SCM) ensures that the right equipment and supplies are available when needed, and the Supply Chain Management Product Line (SCM PL) encompasses the activities to procure resources, manage supplies, and deliver goods and services to providers and patients.

This team will be focused on implementing a scalable to support accelerated site deployment, while at the same time supporting integration with additional VA systems and sustainment of current integrations.

The team will have a blend of specific expertise and experience in SAFe Agile, Product Management, Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps), engineering, and Data Migration.

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) will interface with key stakeholders and maintain responsibility for coordinating with QA, development, packaging and hardware teams. Focus on documenting releases, risks and maintaining the schedule of planned releases. Identify impacts to testing and release milestones as developers communicate schedule delays or propose re-sequencing or de-scoping features. Review the features the development team creates, identify any potential gaps or discrepancies with the milestones, and translate completed features and user stories into capability-level release notes that are meaningful to management and users.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and address the management and coordination of the product from development through production.
  • Oversee the coordination, integration, and flow of development, testing, and deployment to support continuous delivery.
  • Manage risk and resolve issues that affect release management.
  • Leads and coordinates system release planning, scheduling and deployment management at a portfolio level. This includes baseline management, version controls, implementation plans, communication plans, software upgrades, operational change requests.
  • Manage client and management expectations with respect to release management activities.
  • Execute release activities in accordance with established Change and Release Management processes
  • Ensure appropriate controls are met in the release and deployment processes.
  • Establish and maintain plan for stakeholder communications.
  • Work closely with the engineering team for planning, testing, managing and implementation of changes.
  • Ensure deployments are promoted and test activities occur within development environments in accordance with the Release Schedule and established framework.
  • Follow documentation standards and produce required release management deliverables such as, Release Briefing Packages and Release Plans.
  • Ensure completion and tracking of release artifacts.
  • Execute transfer of artifacts/deliverables to Service Operations team.

Colorado Salary Minimum: $88,504.00
Colorado Salary Maximum:$189,217.60
