Maxar is looking for a Junior Systems Engineer who is interested in working on cutting-edge projects in support of space-based resources and the national security enterprise to join our team in Herndon, VA.

What you'll do day-to-day:

• Influencing the shaping of future systems by contributing to the architecture.
  
• Designing a complete and complex framework, system, or product.
  
• Utilizing the latest advances in digital engineering and model-based systems engineering to drastically reduce development and test timelines and improve system performance.
  
• Defining processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
  
• Conceiving system interfaces and business application prototypes.
  
• Developing and updating system Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
  
• Identifying and reducing program risks and issues.
  
• Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses.
  
• Providing multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives.
  
• Defining input and output file specifications.
  
• Understanding strategic themes and other key business drivers for architecture, developing architecture plans, and communicating technical decisions to leadership, the customer, and non-technical stakeholders.
  
• Evaluating technology and performing objective trade studies to support program solutions development.
  
• Maintaining a high-level, holistic vision of enterprise solutions and development initiatives.
  
• Strategically and tactically maintaining the balance of competing requirements from business needs, customer expectations, and technical requirements.
  

• Must have a current/active TS/SCI clearance
  
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  

• Agile background on large scale development efforts
  
• Experience in multiple phases of development
