Job Description:

THIS IS A FULL TIME TELEWORK/REMOTE POSITION

Leidos is seeking a Splunk Engineer / Developer that will support the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program which provides Information Technology Service to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability. The successful candidate will provide direct support to HUD enterprise network systems and manage Splunk server infrastructure solutions across multiple solution areas within the environment.

In this role, as part of the team you will provide design support for a very large distributed Splunk environment, spanning security, performance, and operational roles. Additionally, you will support full system engineering life-cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, test, documentation, and implementation following defined best practices and operational workflows. You will work with other Splunk team members and will be perform troubleshooting.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops and customizes Splunk apps and dashboards.
  • Implements integration with external systems.
  • Builds advanced visualizations.
  • Troubleshoot Splunk platform and application issues, escalate the issue and work with Splunk support to resolve issues.
  • Build and integrated contextual data into notable events.
  • Interact with end users to gather requirements.
  • Perform routine health checks, maintenance tasks, update, upgrade, and implement new capability.
  • Mentor users and other groups on their use of Splunk.


Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree coupled with 5+ years' experience in the Information Technology.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Splunk Administration role working in a Splunk clustered environment.
  • Experience in Linux.
  • Working Knowledge of Change & Configuration Management.
  • Strong problem solving abilities with an analytic and qualitative eye for reasoning under pressure.
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Ability to script in one more of the following computer languages Python, JavaScript or Powershell.
  • The individual must be able to communicate effectively with a minimum of supervision in verbally and in writing. Must be able to use Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint effectively.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Splunk Architect preferred.
  • Experience implementing Splunk Dashboards.
  • Splunk certifications, Security+ or CISSP certification a plus.


Must be able to pass a HUD Public Trust background investigation. Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence status is required.
