TWO POSITIONS WILL BE FILLED FROM THIS RECRUITMENT. To maintain and repair as needed all campus indoor/outdoor lighting systems to include all associated controls and to maintain and repair all campus electrical distribution system in campus buildings. Repair and replace as needed motors, contacts, relays, motor starters, and motor sheaves, wiring as it pertains to HVAC equipment.This position is designated essential personnel for emergency closings. The holder of this position is also subject to serving on a schedule to be called back to work during non-work hours. In such an event, this position is required to respond to after-hours calls and will carry an ODU cell phone on a rotational basis. While serving as the after-hours call-back person, the individual must remain available by telephone, text, or pager while off site and respond to any message within fifteen (15) minutes.Type of RecruitmentKnowledge, skills and abilitiesExcellent working knowledge of all phases of electrical systems dealing with light commercial equipment at an institutional setting. Demonstrate the ability to read and understand electrical schematics and building blueprints. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical lighting systems and motor control systems related to HVAC. General knowledge of electrical and mechanical electrical fields are required. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot fire alarm and elevator systems to determine proper repairs necessary.Special licenses, registration or certification Valid drivers license and insurable driving record. Journeyman Electrician license.Education or training NALevel and type of experienceExperience working in a commercial electrical environment at a journeymen level performing duties of installation and troubleshooting of electrical components.Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certificationMaster electrician with several years experience in the field performing maintenance and repair of electrical components such as lighting control systems, motor control centers, building wiring, and their devices. Fire alarm system knowledge, and general elevator knowledge for troubleshooting purposes.Conditions of EmploymentFacilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during University closings.Continuing education as required/directed by University.Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
