DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION:The Defense Systems Group of SAIC is currently seeking a Senior System Engineer for the Decision Support Division (DSD) Integrated Air, Missile and Network Defense, and Space Support Contract in Huntsville, AL and Norfolk, VA supporting the Joint Forces Command J/3/5 South.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Candidate will be expected to work in a small team, agile environment, to engineer the design, implementation and test of software (SW) components/applications through the entire SW lifecycle.
Candidate will be expected to recommend solutions to technical problems/needs of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
Candidate will be expected to perform functional analysis, analyze and design system capabilities by decomposing larger system capability sets into smaller, incrementally delivered component requirements with full traceability
Candidate will be expected to derive functional and component level requirements by developing use cases, functional diagrams, user interface design, and interface documents
Candidate will be expected to translate customer requirements into hardware, software or engineering specifications.
Candidate will be expected to provide workbook (Integrated Master Schedule) estimates on the time required to design, model and implement requirements of SW components
Candidate will be required to create and present design documentation and participate in lifecycle reviews of software components.
Candidate will be expected to follow established project procedures and processes
Good communication and collaborative skills is a must. Interact with senior personnel (internal & external) on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Candidate will be expected to participate in peer reviews of system capability requirements, design, test strategies and implementation (e.g. code reviews).
Candidate will be expected to provide guidance in creating test environments and participate in system tests of developed SW in a lab environment with actual fielded hardware.
QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related field and 9+ years of related experience.
Active Secret Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience using IBM Rational DOORS
Understanding with UML
Familiar with JIRA and the Atlassian Suite
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project
Skilled in Technical/Specification Writing
