Seeking a gentle and experienced Adult Personal Care Attendant to provide comprehensive care and support to a 26 year-old adult with multiple disabilities resulting from seizures, delayed processing disorder, and autism (to include Intellectual disability). The role of the Personal Care Attendant is to assist the adult with all activities of daily living and ensure the adult’s safety and well-being. This is a physically demanding position that requires flexibility and patience.
Activities of Daily Living include but are not limited to:
Toileting and Cleansing
Dressing
Preparing Meals and to monitor eating for Choking concerns
Brushing Teeth/Hair
Bathing/Showering
Medications
Transport to and from appointments (in handicapped accessible van, -not provided)
Transport to and from outpatient physical, occupational and/or speech therapies as needed (in handicapped accessible van, -not provided)
Ensure safety at all times while accompanying the adult during these appointments, and especially while in the community
Requirements:
Experience working with children/adults suffering from processing delay disorder, stroke, seizure disorder, autism, and Intellectual Disability
Ability to lift 230 lbs. (this may increase)
Flexibility in scheduling including the ability to adapt to short-notice changes due to appointment schedules and changes, and changes in outpatient appointments
Willingness to book and pay for own lodging if needed to travel with client to out of state medical appointments (no reimbursement for travel expenses)
Provide own transportation that must be a handicapped accessible van
Must be able to pass background checks through the state of Virginia
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must pass a drug test
Must be a non-smoker and non-vapor
Must be 18 years or older
Employment Details:
Full-time (40 hours) M-F to include rotating weekends, every other weekend
On call for schedule changes,and weekends required

No holiday pay or overtime
No benefits such as paid time off or health, dental or workman’s comp insurance
