Fiber Optic Technician

CDIS, Inc. is looking for Fiber Optic Technicians. CDIS, Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, commensurate with experience, which includes: medical, dental, 401(k), PTO (Paid Time Off).
Immediate full-time position for experienced Fiber Optic Technician. Candidate will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, and testing of various fiber optic types. Current fiber optic certifications preferred.
Responsibilities
Perform fiber tests with OTDR's, light source and meters
Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standards
Perform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels.
Working knowledge of fiber optics
Basic knowledge of networking
Proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment
Terminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures
Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently
Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters
Learn and adhere to all safety standards
Must be able to read and understand blue prints, designs and work scopes
5 years previous experience
Experience with the following equipment Required:
Fusion splicer, Single mode and Multimode Connector Types include Unicam, Hot Melt, and Anaerobic. Experience is using OTDR, power meters, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, etc.

The Fiber Optic Technician position is directly responsible for the professional installation, termination, and testing of both single mode and multimode fiber optic cables. Technical knowledge and certifications are required in the areas of fiber optic installations. Professional communication and service provided to all internal and external customers, proactively ensuring a quality installation within the specifications and parameters established between the customer and CDIS, Inc. Building positive customer relationships and always representing CDIS, Inc. with integrity, and professionalism is required.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years' experience
BICSI Installer / Technician preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and oral communications skills
Knowledge of communications industry including voice, data, video and security.
The ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-changing environment, which requires a high degree of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record required.
