The UVA Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) invites you to apply to join us as an Instructional Designer. This is a full-time, full-benefits position for a fixed term of six months. The ideal candidate will be able to start immediately.

The CTE is a pan-University center dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning, building community, and fosteringinnovation at all levels and in all academic disciplines. As our Instructional Designer, you will work closely with the CTE team to (re)design, develop, and deliver effective online instructional development experiences and resources for UVA instructors, which include faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars. You will assist our team intransitioning our existing digital programming to a new e-learning platform and in strengthening this programming through the addition of videos, knowledge checks, flashcards, and other activities. You will also assist with the conception, development, and implementation of entirely new modules and resources, building a library that instructors can access at any time to enhance their teachingand advance theUniversitys core mission of providing exceptional learningexperiences for our students.

To prepare you for this role, youshould have experience using tools such as learning management systems, content management systems, visual presentation software, and web authoring tools to create rich, interactive learning environments. You should be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work bothindependently and collaboratively as necessary,and set and achieve project goals. Ideally, you will also have experience in areas such as educational development at the college or university level, best practices for technology in teaching and learning, professional graphic design, and Articulate 360s suite of tools.

Primary Duties:

  • Create engaging, interactive online instructional development opportunities and resources for instructors.
  • Redesign existing programming and content to improve the online learning experience.
  • Develop exercises and activities that enhance learning as well as supporting materials/media (audio, video, quizzes, flashcards, sorting, etc.) to engage learners most effectively.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with CTE team throughout process to develop high-quality learning experiences and meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of content based on learner data and feedback and identify areas for improvement.


Minimum Requirements (must have one of the below combinations):

1. High school diploma and six years of instructional design experience.

2. Associate's degree and four years of instructional design experience.

3. Bachelor's degree and two years of instructional design experience.

Compensation:

$30,000.00 paid out over a six-month period with unfortunately no opportunity for negotiation due to funding constraints. Staff will also be eligible for all full-time, University Staff benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, etc.
