The Survey Field technician will assist the Survey Crew Chief with all tasks used for construction, map making or other purposes using Robotic total station, GPS, level and other surveying instruments by incorporating the following:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Compiles notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed.

Transports equipment from station to station.

Maintains concentration and diligence in order to assist Crew Chief in accurate and comprehensive completion of projects.

Responsible for care and maintenance of survey equipment.

Performs other duties as directed by the Land Surveyor or the Survey Crew Chief.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.

Registrations/Certifications/Licenses:

Must possess a valid Virginia drivers license.

Physical demands:

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

The employee routinely uses a brush axe and/or machete to clear lines of site.

The employee routinely uses 1 to 12 lb. hammers to set survey points.

The employee routinely wears work boots, a safety vet and eye protection, and long pants. This is considered required Personal Protective equipment.

Work Environment:

The employee works in outside weather conditions, construction sites, roadway corridors, forested undeveloped sites "in the woods."
