Job Description

TheBenefits Manageris responsible for coordinating, planning and administration of the Company’s Health & Welfare benefit programs, voluntary plans, 401(K), workers compensation, and other benefit plans. Manages benefit vendor relationships and monitors and recommends updates to benefits programs to ensure alignment with business objectives. Implements best practices and technology to deliver and communicate benefits programs. Assures thorough audits, reports, and personal contact that the company's benefit programs are consistently administered and in compliance with company policies and government regulations. The Benefits Manager also collaborates with the team to drive strategic HR programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops, recommends, implements, communicates, and administers all employee benefit programs with benefits team members, including new hire orientation and open enrollment activities.
  • Researches and develops specifications for new plans or modify existing plans to maintain the company's competitive position in the labor market
  • Manages relationships with insurance carriers, benefits broker, outside consultants, and auditors
  • Manages all leave programs (disability plans, Workers Comp, Family Bonding Leave, FMLA, LOA)
  • Ensures all regulatory reporting, non-discrimination testing, and audits are performed timely to include management of ACA reporting and Form 5500 filings for H&W plans and 401k plan
  • Works with broker analyzing and recommending solutions for benefit programs ensuring they are current with regard to market competitiveness, evolving best practices, and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Coaches Benefits Specialist
  • Ensures effective benefits communications using multiple media formats
  • Works with carriers, vendors and broker on plan designs, contracts, coverages, and renewals
  • Ensures all company-sponsored plans, including their design and changes, are in compliance with all relevant legal requirements including HIPAA, Section 125, ADA, discrimination testing and ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Reconciles benefit plan invoices
  • Responds to employee inquiries
  • Responds to benefit market surveys

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in Benefits with a minimum of 5 years managing the benefits function
  • CEBS certification and/or SHRM/HRCI certification preferred
  • Ability to apply business knowledge to manage needs or problems to develop and implement solutions.
  • Sound knowledge of regulations governing benefit plans and administration including ERISA, HIPAA, Section 125, Section 137, Section 409, and other applicable IRS code
  • Must be a hands-on, service-oriented individual with exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Must also be able to work independently on a variety of concurrent assignments
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge and experience of HRIS system – Workday preferred
