Job Summary

Dominion's System Operations Engineering department is seeking a motivated individual to support the Company's evolving transmission grid. Interns will work with experienced team members to assist with the configuration, administration, and maintenance of EMS network applications as well as the development of Synchrophasor Applications for use in real-time operations. In a ddition, interns will support and facilitate the automation of the department's processes. Experience in software, web-based database-driven development is highly desired. Specific assignments may include the following:
• Support the development of situational awareness tools in the control operations room • Support the de v elopment of advanced PMU based applications • Write programs in a variety of computer languages, including C#, Perl, Javascript, SQL, Visual Basic, Python for in-house applications • Enhance, debug, test and validate developed applications • Develop documentation such as software application manuals and training documentation • Participate in internal meetings with project management • Perform other duties as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Qualifications:
• Comprehensive understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems • Demonstrated resourcefulness in developing system applications from diverse and indirect data and information sources preferred • Experience with GE/ALSTOM e-terra platform is preferred • Experience and familiarity with Programming languages such as HTML5, CSS, SQL , JavaScript , C# , .NET Programming , Visual Basic, C , Python , PowerShell, XML is preferred. • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment; • Strong oral and written communication skills; • Time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments; • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

Education Requirements

• Must be currently pursuing a graduate degree, graduating May 2024 or later. • Must have earned a bachelor's degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a master's or Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred fields include electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering with a focus on energy systems) from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university. • Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science majors are preferred. • Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
