PROJECT MANAGER – Under direct supervision of a more senior Program Manager, a Project Manager, manages a small project or phase(s) of a larger project. Responsibility for all aspects of the project over the entire life (initiate, plan, execute, control, close). Must be familiar with system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member, to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.

Responsibilities:
  • Has basic familiarity with project lifecycle, tools, techniques and processes.
  • Supports data capture and tracking for some control processes (risk, cost, schedule, scope and quality management.
  • Ensure a common understanding by supporting the communication of project expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, in order to align the stakeholders and team members.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to Project Manager.
  • Reviews project plans and schedules. Looks for important milestones, dependencies and changes. Can own the management and execution of project sub-tasks.
  • Track the status of approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events in order to minimize the impact of the risks on the project.
  • Record detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish the project deliverables, using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g., planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups) and the project charter.
  • Support team performance by participating in team cohesiveness, training, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale.
  • Communicates information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Listens intently to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions when appropriate, and allowing others to speak without interrupting them.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of direct project management experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
  • Strong relationship building and negotiation skills; able to influence internal and external stakeholders with shared and divergent interests.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multi-tasking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand complex technical material and be able to ascertain business implications.
  • Ability to translate business strategy into functional/operational plans and apply knowledge to the critical components of the function.
  • Working experience with project change management, portfolio risk management, project communication management and organization change management.
  • Ability to build complex and global cross-group/department plans, drive, track and report execution progress.
  • Understanding of project management lifecycle and delivery frameworks; primarily Waterfall, SAFe and Agile/Scrum a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • PMP or similar Project Management certification.
  • Familiarity with the Financial Services sector; experience in the following industries a plus: Mortgage, Banking.
  • Solid technical background; experience working in progressive infrastructure teams, and enabling devops processes and tools.
  • Demonstrated results in team management, and ensuring work activities are value added and focused on project delivery.
  • Experience with Project Portfolio Management Tools.
