Provide engineering mainframe and database solutions to customers/clients including:
Developing, testing and producing LPARs for System Z, z/OS, and other mainframe technologies;
Providing database and server technology for DB2 and IMS to enhance transactions and analytics;
Providing technical assistance on Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Processes; and
Developing and implementing project plans for installations and upgrades including: estimates, target dates, milestones and schedules.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop, test and produce LPARs for System Z, z/OS, and other mainframe technologies
Provide database and server technology for DB2 and IMS to enhance transactions and analytics
Provide technical assistance on Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Processes
Develop, enhance, and support technical approaches to allow audits and scalable implementations of large and complex mainframe environments
Identify and resolve system and software performance issues
Develop, implement, and communicate project plans for installations and upgrades, including: estimates, target dates, milestones and schedules
Provide management and account managers with project status including customer incident tickets and changes orders
Provides team members with technical training and/or mentoring
This is a full-time position of the Managed Services job family that will require travel to company meetings at company offices and off-site client meetings/work, as needed, throughout the U.S. Telecommuting/remote living is also permitted from anywhere in the U.S.Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field (will accept bachelor’s degree equivalency evaluation prepared by a qualified credential evaluation service), and a minimum of five (5) years of IT engineering experience, specializing in:
Mainframe installations and configurations for System Z, z/OS, and other related technology
Database management including DB2 and IMS
Other Position Requirements:In addition to the basic qualifications above, the following other required qualifications exist:
Experience with mainframe System Z and z/OS installations and configurations, development and testing, management and performance tuning, upgrades and maintenance
Experience with database management including DB2 and IMS
Experience with various programming languages, including: REXX, JCL, SQL, and COBOL
Experience with various tools, including: DB2 Accessories, Admin and Automaton; QMF; and IBM Tivoli Omegamon and Workload
Experience with transitioning customers from legacy systems
Experience with Customer Disaster Recovery Plans
Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with vVM and zLinux
Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server
