LeafSpring School at the Boulders is a preschool and school-age care facility located in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The facilities are comprised of two buildings, situated on about 2 acres. We serve approximately 150 families; we have about 36 staff members.
General Job Description:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the general upkeep, maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment at LeafSpring School through hands-on work and supervision of maintenance staff.

The Facilities Manager should support the staff in achieving the LeafSpring School Vision: To Be The Standard of Excellence in Early Education, School-Age Recreation and Mildly Ill Care
The Facilities Manager will adhere at all times to appropriate safety standards.
Scheduling and Reporting:
The Facilities Manager reports primarily to the facility owner, with secondary supervision provided by the Program Directors. Day-to-Day work is directed through a Maintenance Log, in which the Facilities Manager and supervisors can communicate tasks, priorities, etc. The Facilities Manager will oversee one part-time staff member who is primarily responsible for landscape upkeep.
The Facilities Manager is granted significant leeway to determine scheduling and task priorities. Some work will require evening and weekend hours.
Typical Work:
The Facilities Manager will complete general maintenance and repair him- or herself, such as:
Plumbing repairs
Minor carpentry
Landscape upkeep (with assistant)
Painting and drywall
Mechanical parts repair
Normal vehicle upkeep
Specialized/infrequent cleaning (carpets, gutters, etc.)
Other maintenance and repair tasks as necessary
Required Qualifications:
Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
Clean Criminal Record (extensive background check will be performed)
Facilities Maintenance experience
Must be trustworthy, able to work independently, friendly, helpful and clean in appearance
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both written and verbal, with supervisors, coworkers, customers and children
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years or more of professional Facilities Maintenance experience
Use of own vehicle appropriate for transportation of tools, supplies and equipment
Significant tool collection is a plus
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
These requirements are typical and representative of the job:
Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands and fingers to control objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs and ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
Ability to lift 50 pounds individually and up to 100 pounds with assistance (dollies, hand trucks, additional persons).
Ability to see in order to read and complete written forms and communications, and to visually inspect physical aspects of facilities and equipment, including small details.
The duties of the job will require work in an outdoor environment involving exposure to adverse weather, dirt, dust and other natural conditions.
The duties of the job will require use of dangerous tools, equipment and supplies, including power tools, large equipment, vehicles, harmful chemicals, sharp objects and other dangers. Proper safety precautions are required at all times.
