We have extensive experience reporting complex matters around the globe, including arbitrations, trials and depositions. Planet Depos is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and has more than 60 offices worldwide. This position will require travel to different depositions located throughout the Roanoke area. Flexibility in work schedule is a must.

A Digital Court Reporter is a professional who is required to be present in depositions, hearings or other legal matters that require a verbatim record of what is being said. You will be responsible for setting up state-of-the art recording equipment and being well versed in its operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You will be required to become a notary public so that you are authorized to administer oaths. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping simultaneous notes during the proceedings, creating a log note of speaker identifications and keywords, as well as marking and maintaining disposition of exhibits.

Training is extensive and hands on and successful candidates must have a 2- or 4-year degree, preferably in A/V technologies, have a professional appearance and behavior, outstanding written and communication skills, and experience dealing face to face with professional clients.

In this role you will:

Transport, set up, and operate various pieces of electronic equipment, including cameras, audio and video recorders, mixers, and microphones.

Operate and maintain proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio and video recorders, and other electronic equipment.

Understand instructions contained in rules, court orders, or stipulations regarding procedures for recording proceedings.

Obtain and maintain a Notary in order to administer oaths.

Make simultaneous computerized notes during the proceedings and account for all exhibits.

Conduct and support mobile videoconference jobs.

The ideal candidate will have some experience or knowledge of the legal industry. Must be able to write and speak clearly utilizing proper grammar. You must be able to adapt to unexpected circumstances and operate on a changing schedule, sometimes working after hours. Must have a reliable mode of transportation, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. This position will require travel to different locations throughout the Roanoke area. Punctuality and flexibility in work schedule is a must.
