Boring Contractors Inc. (BCI) is a roadway and utility construction contractor with offices in both Abingdon and Salem, VA. BCI performs work for state and local municipalities like VDOT, Roanoke County, and Virginia Western Water Authority. We work all over Southwest and Southern Virginia.
BCI is searching for a skilled mechanic to service, maintain, and repair pickup trucks, dump trucks, and construction equipment. This work would be done at our 3 bay shop in Salem, as well as, in the field at our job sites. This is a full-time position that would require an average input of 40 to 50 hours per week. Listed below are some of the duties and requirements for this job, but is by no means an exhaustive list.
Main Duties include but are not limited to:
-Diagnosing equipment malfunctions
-Determining if parts can be repaired or if a new part is needed
-Remove, repair, and replace equipment parts
-Taking parts or hoses to be repaired
-Repairing equipment to the manufacturers standards
-Identifying and fixing wiring issues
-Keeping detailed maintenance records
Typical equipment you may have to work on:
-Pickup Trucks
-Dump Trucks
-Heavy Equipment (Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Dozers, Backhoes, and Skidsteers)
-Water pumps
-Hydroseeder
-Trailers
Requirements:
-3 or more years of full-time mechanic work
-Supply all your own tools (except for specialty items such as large air tools, etc.)
-Maintain a valid drivers license
-Pass a pre-employment drug screen
Hourly Pay Rates and Raises:
-Hourly pay rates can depend on past work experience and certifications
-Most raises are given on a job performance basis.
