Basic Purpose

The Site Reliability Engineer is a technical resource with an intermediate to advanced level knowledge, skills, and experience in the areas of software design/development/engineering and systems architecture including, but not limited to, automation, reliability, and systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Full life-cycle project management
o Establish and lead project teams
o Develop project plan/scope/schedule/cost/communications
o Procure and/or manage resources/timelines/deadlines/quality
o Risk, Issue and Change management
o Ensure successful project implementation
o Scope of responsibility
• Lead, guide and mentor less experienced staff
• Provide input and make budgetary recommendations regarding staffing and equipment
• Apply engineering principles into the design and enhancement of new and existing systems
• Document new system components, or modifications to existing components
• Ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering and Information Security principles and practices
• Perform engineering tasks and assignments in support of business needs
• Perform engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems
• Provide technical leadership in the architecture discipline and development of information technology solutions
• Present clear, organized and concise information to all audiences through a variety of media to enable effective business decisions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working on an Agile (scrum/kanban) team.
• Experience with a Configuration Management tool (preferably Chef, Ansible).
• Experience with a Continuous Integration and Deployment tool (preferably Jenkins/Cloudbees, Concourse).
• Experience with Containerization (preferably PCF/Tanzu, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and/or Docker).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (preferably Terraform CLI/Enterprise).
• Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Strong scripting skills including at least one of the following: Ruby, Python, Go, Javascript.
• Strong organization skills with emphasis on detail and follow-up.
• BS degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field or equivalent experience preferred.


Desired Qualifications


• Experience with Tanzu (Pivotal/Cloudfoundry) platform (Tanzu Application Services, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid).
• Intermediate to advanced systems administration skills with Redhat, AIX, and Windows operating systems in an enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting services via monitoring availability, system health, and incident response.
• Experience with Compliance Auditing and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with Event/Log Management: Datadog, Splunk, ELK, Moogsoft, CA APM, Cacti.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills (participating in meetings, giving presentations, creating diagrams).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Cisco/VMWare NSX-V/T Network Engineering experience with routers, switches, underlay/overlay networking, and dynamic routing protocols (BFD, BGP, OSPF, MPBGP, VXLAN, GENEVE).
• Ability to deep dive packet captures to troubleshoot layer 4-7 issues and develop data driven decisions for remediation of infrastructure/application issues
• Experience with load balancing technologies (F5 LTM/GTM, NGINX, Envoy, HAProxy).
• Experience with automating network operating system APIs (NSX Manager, Infoblox DDI, F5 iControl).
• Experience with creating, testing, and maintaining SLO/SLI/SLA.
• Experience with Distributed Systems.
• Experience with Redhat, VMware, and PowerVC/OpenStack virtualization technologies.
• Experience with Public/Private Cloud (preferably Azure and/or Azure Stack).
