SourceAmerica is looking for a talented Communications Manager to join its Vienna, VA-based team.

Job Summary

This position supports initiatives of SourceAmerica as part of the Communications Department. This position identifies and develops editorial content, create innovative ways to tell our story, and manages proactive, reactive and interactive communications efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Research, write and edit feature stories, press releases, announcements, e-mails and executive communications and presentations to support initiatives.

  • Build relationships with media and influencers in our field

  • Manage the delivery of communication within the context of major marketing campaigns.

  • Work with Creative & Digital team and social media manager to disseminate news.

  • Manage the editorial direction of The Source, the company intranet and internal face of the organization.

  • Support senior director of communications by developing messages and presentations for varied audiences.

  • Use online tools to monitor media for news related to industry and business, SourceAmerica and AbilityOne and their affiliates, information pertinent to required reporting, and to identify threats and opportunities for the organization, compiled as a daily news brief for senior leadership.

  • Manage and assist with social media channels as needed.

  • Work as part of editorial team to ensure that content has a consistent SourceAmerica tone and voice and that it supports SourceAmerica’s brand position.

  • Maintain knowledge of industry and marketing communications trends and incorporates new ideas into SourceAmerica’s communications strategies.

  • Cooperate fully with meeting the requirements of the Cooperative Agreement of the AbilityOne Commission

  • Perform additional duties and participate in special projects as assigned

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School Diploma

  • 5 years’ experience writing, editing, researching content for corporate communications

  • Experience working with federal agencies

  • Experience successfully managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited institution

  • Experience working for agencies or volunteering directly with professionals with disabilities

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with individuals and teams across a 400+ organization with a national footprint

  • Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including grammar and proofreading skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Capable of working independently and solving problems under time pressure

  • Flexible schedule and some travel required during certain time periods

  • Commitment to fulfilling SourceAmerica’s mission, vision, and values
