Job Summary:

Responsible for design configuration implementation and systems management of complex clientserver systems. Supervise staff of Unix Linux and Storage administrators in support of Enterprise computing systems in a large retail environment spanning multiple geographic locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Incumbents of this position must be U.S. Citizens.

- Supervise daily activities of all system administration, storage and backup functions. Responsible for AIX, HP-UX and Linux operating systems, physical and virtual servers, disk arrays, SAN switches and tape backup hardware.

- Evaluate and recommend hardware and software systems, develop technical integration plans and communicate project schedules.

- Plan for life cycle of hardware and software upgrades.

- Establish technical priorities, standards and procedures for all AIX / Unix / Linux, SAN, storage and backup hardware and software.

- Coordinate infrastructure projects, including scheduling, coordination, communication, solution design, implementation, and documentation.

- Ability to work well in cross-functional groups; exposure to and understanding of critical issues in a 24 x 7 Enterprise mission critical production environment.

- Develop, implement, test and maintain server and storage high availability and failover strategies in support of mission critical systems.

- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for Unix Systems. Mentors and trains Unix System Administrators.

- Performs full spectrum of supervisory functions, including personnel administration, assigning and monitoring workload, training and managing staff performance. Develop team and individual objectives to meet the organization's business needs.

- Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and project planning skills required.

- On-call duties and extended working hours may be required.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Ensure/implement the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Systems, Applications and/or Services (Hardware & Software). Reviews DISA's Unix Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Checklists for guidance and implements system security controls as required. Implements Payment Card Industry standards and requirements as mandated on Unix Systems

IA Certification: One of the following certifications: Security , GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP); or any one of the following higher level certifications: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Expert (GSE), Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
NEXCOM preferred certification is Security

Technical Certification: IBM Certified Specialist. Certification must be valid (not expired) as defined by the policy of the certification issuer.
Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain the proper certification requirement will result in termination of employment.

This position is designated IT-1 (Critical - Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M-5510.30 and will require a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).

Candidates must be eligible for and obtain a Secret Clearance, within 6 months of appointment. Failure to obtain will result in termination.

The incumbent of this position must file a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE) Form 450, as required.Qualified candidates must be U.S. Citizens.

A total of 8 years of experience consisting of the following:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience in administrative, technical or investigative work which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes required to perform technical, managerial or analytical work involving management information systems.

OR

SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree in Business Information or Computer Assisted design discipline for 3 years of general experience.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 5 years of technical enterprise systems engineering experience supervising or leading computer professionals engaged in UNIX Systems Programming and Administration, Operating System Performance Tuning and release and patch management; 2 years of experience in SAN Storage Management, including fiber channel switch administration and capacity planning; and Windows Server Systems Administration

Recommends and assists in implementing modifications to programs procedures standards and techniques on all matters involving loss prevention asset protection and safety to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
