Data Center Automation systems are at heart of ensuring that we can provide our customers with the right computing services, in the right region, at the right time. The Data Center automation Organization team is responsible for building the systems that automate and orchestrate the physical work processes that occur inside all of AWS' global data centers. Our talented team of datacenter engineers depend on our systems to perform their work safely, securely, efficiently, and free of defects, resultant in finished products being ready for AWS customer-facing utilization. Our team is responsible for billions of dollars in capital and the ultimate success of our core cloud infrastructure business.

We have an ambitious charter and are looking for creative and deeply technical Software Engineers to help us build the next generation of automation for the AWS cloud on the AWS cloud. In this team you will be able to own end-end feature development from helping with defining feature requirements to design and implementation. You will also get your hands on lots of technologies including AWS technologies. We use AWS technologies for most of our stack, including data storage in S3, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS , Lambda etc.This is a highly visible program across multiple organizations where you will have the opportunity to have a huge impact.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with the team to help solve business problems.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
  • Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team deliverables.
  • Write high quality distributed system software.
  • Work in an agile, startup-like development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff.

About the team
  • You will get opportunity to work with strong technical engineers and leaders, Sr engineers, P.E's on a day to day basis who share their knowledge, experience and also are great mentors to learn from and brainstorm cutting edge ideas.
  • Team has a good mix of tenured and new engineers to bring in experienced and fresh perspective to solve the challenging problems.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science and 2+ years of experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Experience leading delivery of large scale, distributed, high quality systems


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/MS in computer science or related technical field
  • 4+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience
  • 1+ year of experience with programming language Go
  • Experience with various database systems: Relational, NoSql
  • Experience in Serverless software design
  • Technical expertise in at least one major technical area of distributed systems, such as scale-out or fault-tolerance
  • Experience leading development life cycle process and best practices
  • Experience mentoring/training the engineering community on complex technical issues.
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
