Growing Washington is a diverse organic vegetable and berry farm located in Everson, WA. We are currently seeking a part-time market worker to run our booth at the Capitol Hill Farmers Market in Seattle every Sunday.
This position is for one (12) hour shift each Sunday with the opportunity to pick up more hours and markets as the season progresses. You will be responsible for arriving at the farm each Sunday at 6 AM, loading your produce into a small box truck, and driving to Seattle for market. The market runs from 11 AM to 3 PM, after which you will drive back to the farm and unload any leftover food into the cooler.
This position requires long hours and the willingness to work rain or shine. The ideal candidate has lots of positive energy, an interest in local food and farming, and can commit to the entire season”April through October”with the opportunity to continue working through the winter if desired.
Requirements:
Must have a clean driving record and be comfortable on the highway.
Must be able to commit to the full season (taking a weekend off every so often is fine with advanced notice)
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be comfortable with the manual labor involved in loading and unloading your truck and setting up your market displays. This position can be very labor intensive during peak season.
Must have customer service experience and be comfortable handling and balancing your cash drawer.
Retail experience is a huge plus. You will be responsible for designing neat, organized and eye-catching displays using lots of colorful delicious produce.
As a market vendor, you will become part of a thriving and diverse community of fellow farmers, creators and artisans selling the best of Washingtons local goods.
