JOB SUMMARY

Early Head Start at Opportunity Council is seeking a caring professional to work with families in our weekly home visiting program. You will be working with parents/guardians and their children birth to 3 years of age throughout Whatcom County. As an agency, we value the future of our community and offer a high-quality, family-focused program uniquely designed to support families, as they are the first and most important teachers of their infants and toddlers. Services are provided through a case management approach for low-income families who are pregnant or have children 0-3. We are trauma informed, strengths based, and equity-centric. We know every parent wants the very best for their child and work to maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child's family. We are committed to promoting parent-child bonding and nurturing parent-child relationships. If you share the same values, we want you to be a part of our team! You would be joining a group of 5 home educators who work independently, while being strongly supportive and collaborative as a team. If you’re looking for an opportunity to work with your head and your heart, we might be the place for you!

COVID-19 update: Services continue to be provided to families through online forums. These virtual visits include comprehensive child development, health, mental health, nutrition, and social services necessary to support the healthy growth and development of infants and/or toddlers. We continue to foster positive attachments through parent/child interaction activities and supportive relationships. At this time, we do not know when in person home visits will resume.

Who we are looking for:

People who honor our mission, agree with our purpose and want to be part of something bigger.

People who are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in both the services we provide as well as the environment in which we work.

People who are self-motivated and passionate about the work they do.

People who understand we are not a team because we work together. We are a team because we respect, trust and care for one another.

See full job specifications and application instructions at www.oppco.org/employment/. Paper Employment Applications may be picked up at 1419 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham, WA.

Applications must be received by 11:59 pm, August 24, 2020. To observe the CDC guidelines for social distancing, our interviews may be conducted via Zoom or Team Meetings.

At the Opportunity Council, we are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion with a core set of values that include diversity, collaboration, respect, integrity, passion and learning. We believe we are a stronger and successful organization because of this commitment. We are fully focused on equality and believe deeply in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation and identity, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other fascinating characteristics that make us different.
