Local and organically centered, food loving, fun having, and growing company currently hiring warehouse employees for its meal kit (boxes packed with scrumptious produce and other edible goods) delivery service. The work includes assembly line style packaging and produce portioning/sorting. We seek to hire persons with the will to play as part of a team and are willing to step up to help each other and the company as needed. Ideally, we would like to hire people that plan to work here for more than a few months and are willing to grow with and possibly within Acme.

Responsibilities:

- Count/portion fresh produce, grains, frozen meat, and various other items in accordance customer orders

- Evaluate quality of produce to meet standards and expectations

- Learn and perform best way to store, pack and ship all food items going out to customers

- Keep a neat and clean work station throughout the day in accordance with food safety guidelines

Requirements:

- Ability to stand for 8 hours and stay focused on the job at hand (we have anti-fatigue mats, which help considerably). 8 hour handstands not expected, but will be given due consideration

- Lift 20lb object consistently, and up to 50lbs occasionally

- Scheduling flexibility

- Willingness and ability to work accurately and efficiently. Every number we count and inventory item we log is either exact, or a problem for us later on.

- Familiarity with common weight conversion, or at least the wherewithal to seek the answers desired

- Food handlers permit

Preferences

- Ability to tolerate (or even love) a wide variety of music

- Aptitude for produce puns, or at least taking the thyme to laugh and consider more¦

- Strong capacity to handle changes, and able to roll with the punches that can and do happen

- A knack for quality control of food items, and the urge to delicately handle and present them in an aesthetically pleasing manner

Currently we can offer hours in the range of 20 to 32 hours per week. As our company grows it is expected that everyone on staff should be able to comfortably do their jobs in 32 hours, leaving the rest of your time for that glamorous Bellingham living, or naps in your neglected hammock. We will be hiring for the following days, with a strong preference towards those that have availability on all of those listed:

- Saturday “ Portioning, preparing items for delivery. Shift is 9am-5pm

- Monday “ Packing in the morning, portioning in the afternoon.

- Tuesday - Packing in the morning, portioning in the afternoon.

- Wednesday “ Packing in the morning. Warehouse clean up and organization. Shift 6am-noon (or when the job is done)

Monday and Tuesday will be split in two different shifts-

Shift 1 has a start time of 6am and should end at 2pm or earlier.

Shift 2 has a start time of (likely) noon, until 7pm (or whenever the job is complete)

As mentioned earlier, flexibility in ones schedule is essential, as is the ability to handle fluxuations in job duties and requirements. We are a small family owned business, and we desire to bring in people that are a joy to work with and are willing to help us succeed in building an ethical and community-oriented company.
