Job Description: PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
Client is seeking a contract project manager to augment existing site PMO project management staff in leading the planning and implementation of a portfolio of operational and IT change projects at their cell therapy manufacturing plant in Bothell. The individual will utilize project management principles and skills to develop and execute plans for project requiring tight coordination of complex cross-functional activities. The Project Manager will be accountable for establishing an effective project management structure, as well as directing and managing completion of project deliverables for one or more projects or workstreams in the portfolio. This role will work closely with leaders and representatives from a variety of IT and business functions in a matrixed environment. Typical scope of work includes changes to business processes, technical processes, operational procedures, IT systems, room layout (non-construction), equipment and supplies, including all associated validation, documentation, and training.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education - Bachelor’s degree required, preference for engineering, information systems, business, or life sciences
Formal PMI based project training and PMP certification desirable but not required. Candidate must be able to use standard PM protocol.

Work Experience - 8+ years project management work experience successfully leading medium to large projects. Experience working across IT and operational functions of a regulated environment, manufacturing and/or health sciences industry preferred. Experience with GMP, biologics, cell therapy, drug development, FDA regulatory requirements, biopharma industry, supply chain, drug development or pharmaceuticals in general is a plus.

Project Management Tools & Methodologies - Strong knowledge of standard project management tools and methodologies. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge during management of projects. Proficient in use of MS Project, Smartsheet or comparable project management software for development of complex and detailed workplans.

Office Tools - Expert skills in MS Office applications required. SharePoint and Smartsheet skills are a plus.

Personal & Project Organization - Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail and the ability to organize complex information and manage multiple objectives in parallel.

Communication Skills - Strong written and verbal communication including interpersonal and group facilitation skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels through various formats, such as presentations, status reports, correspondence, virtual and in person meetings, face-to-face dialogue. Able to understand and relay complex information while facilitating communications between functional and technical/IT teams and leadership. Obtains feedback and make appropriate adjustments to drive business deliverables per stakeholder needs.

Teamwork - Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships and influence team members. Able to build collaborative working relationships and navigate a dynamic matrix environment.

Critical Thinking - Collects and analyzes data to assess options when problem solving or decision making. Uses business acumen, good judgement, creativity and negotiation to obtain the best solution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads project team to successful on-time and on-budget delivery through effective use of project planning, management of plan execution and communications with project team members and stakeholders
  • Establishes an appropriate approach, structure, and scope of work for new projects
  • Develop and manages detailed project activity schedules in alignment with target costs and timelines. Identifies and manages dependencies including critical path.
  • Plan and engage necessary resources across the enterprise to ensure successful completion of assigned project(s) including working with functional managers to obtain resources.
  • Work closely with business functions to identify project requirements.
  • Establishes and motivates cross-functional & cross-departmental project teams. Establishes clear project responsibilities, provides direction, and fosters effective team skills to complete tasks on time
  • Actively build relationships with and consults project team, SMEs, and other stakeholders as necessary
  • Actively identifies, triages and monitors risks and issues including identification of solutions, creation of mitigation plans and/or escalations as required to drive to conclusion. Proactively removes obstacles and provides actionable insights to key stakeholders
  • Develops and executes effective stakeholder engagement and communication plans
  • Monitors project progress and actively works to ensure scheduled deliverables are produced
  • Manages formal and informal communication of progress, risks, and issues, project status reports, timelines, and documentation to keep project sponsors informed of project progress and potential risks/roadblocks
  • Schedules and facilitates project team meetings to ensure team alignment (e.g., planning sessions, kickoff meetings, team meetings, steering committees, sponsor meetings)
  • Manages team administrative functions including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, compiling meeting notes, action item tracking and maintenance of project document repositories
  • Understands and applies both historical and new lessons learned, best practices, and innovations to projects
  • Actively contributes to maturing existing project management processes, tools, and methodologies

This position will start as a 6-month term with reassessment for extension.
