Bring your ideas to Boeing and help shape the future of aerospace manufacturing.Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an Experienced Equipment & Tool Engineers to support the Composite Wing Center. As an Experienced Equipment & Tool Engineer, you will support early production of the 777X Wing. The 777X has an amazing wingspan of 235 feet with its carbon fiber wings fabricated in the Composite Wing Center.Be a part of our innovative and technical team who are excited to develop highly complex equipment and tooling concepts and design solutions to produce Boeing’s largest ever wing and work in the new Composite Wing Center. You will have directly assigned technical assignments and will provide guidance and input to the work of junior team members.A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this job family will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.Primary Responsibilities:This is an equipment and automated tooling development, implementation, and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):Develops program and project requirements, develops highly complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions, including alternatives for the Production System.

Validates analysis of technical data, influences product engineering design and makes robotics, automation or technical recommendations to support production system integration for aerospace products.

Leads the creation and modification of equipment and tooling definition at the program level.

Executes project plans, provides input to Make/Buy decisions and partners with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost and quality targets.

Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

Leads gated reviews and develops plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance and spares.

Validates contractual performance milestones. Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.

Conducts studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.

Coach and mentor less experienced employees

Task examples that you will be expected to work under general direction:Focal procurement of equipment and tooling in the fabrication supply base.

Lead improvements to existing equipment and tooling designs.

Develop new equipment and tooling concepts and requirements.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):5 or more years' of experience working in an engineering discipline.

5 or more years' of experience with production systems in a manufacturing or engineering capacity.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience in automation system controls.

Experience in Equipment or Tool Engineering.

Design and drawing creation proficient.

Composites fabrication process understanding.

Project management knowledge.

CATIA V5 proficient.

Strong communication skills.

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
