Seattle Veterinary Specialists (SVS), our BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital in Kirkland Washington is hiring an Emergency Referral Coordinator to join our talented team! This is a full-time position working day shifts on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with alternating weekends (Sat/Sun)The Referral Coordinator is responsible for providing exceptional service to internal and external clients through supporting the care and financial communication needs for the clients and care team of hospitalized patients while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor and taking responsibility for seeking solutions to problems.As a Veterinary Referral Coordinator, you will
Schedule clients according to department guidelines.
Take primary veterinary calls when the doctor is not available for follow up questions only.
Attend rounds every morning to learn about any cases being transferred from emergency to specialty service.
Play the role of liaison between the specialist and the client.
Adapt to and recognize that each specialty and specialist has their own method and style of communication.
Document conversations with specialists and clients in the medical record.
Interact within different services to expedite scheduling of procedures, rechecks, and consults.
Maintain patient care database by entering new information as it becomes available; bring pertinent emails and faxes to the doctor with the corresponding file and relay the doctors interpretations on (most) blood work and any follow up instruction or change of direction from the doctor.
Work closely with the specialists and technical staff within the specialties to ensure accurate flow of information to the client in a timely fashion.
Coordinate the delivery of patient information within the services, to other CCCs, and doctors and work with the client care liaison to ensure excellent care for cases co-managed by the ER and specialty departments.
Qualifications:
Strong customer service background.
Understanding of how the hospital as a whole operates.
The ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
Detailed, thorough, and possessing excellent follow- through skills.
Clear and professional communication abilities are required.
Prior reception or phone experience required; prior veterinary reception experience is a plus.
