Fat Olives is looking for a motivated, experienced individual to lead or prep team and assist in catering when needed. Our ideal candidate has at least 5 years experience working in kitchens, and 1-2 years experience in a management role. We are looking for a positive, detail oriented person to work alongside the executive chef and the rest of the management team in order to create seasonal dishes and to train, motivate, and mentor the dinner crew.
You should have excellent communication skills, strong knife skills, a passion for cooking, and a dynamic understanding of basic cooking techniques. We expect you to have high standards, experience ordering produce and menu planning including creative seasonal dishes. Knowledge of common dietary restrictions, including vegan and gluten free ingredients, is also very helpful.
This is not an admin position, this position will demand hands on leadership wherever hands are needed in the kitchen.
Expect to be on your feet for 8, or more, hours a day, about 45 hours per week.
You must be able to lift 50 pounds. Putting away and organizing storage will often be necessary.
You should have a love for food, local produce, seasonally appropriate dishes, and a passion for sharing that excitement and knowledge.
You will be supervising and training your dinner crew, prep cooks, stewards, and will be the main point person communicating with FOH during your shifts.
A positive attitude and healthy conflict resolution practices are a must. You will lead by example, with patience and positivity, and you will have support from the rest of the management team.
