Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead DevSecOps Software Engineer for their Satellite Division located in Kent, WA.

This exciting software engineer position will work on existing and emerging programs. A successful candidate is passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment to design, develop and implement control and communications software for a new fleet of Boeing satellites.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Enhance our DevOps operations
  • Lead the design and implementation of the DevOps tool chain
  • Collaborate on idea creation and development of the DevOps tool chain
  • Support the ongoing lifecycle maintenance of the DevOps tool chain
  • Support the software quality efforts of our Boeing product deliveries to our customers
  • Works under minimal direction


Technology areas these positions will be focused on are:
  • Agile product development
  • Continuous integration, testing, and delivery
  • DevSecOps processes and tools
  • Automated system testing, integration, and deployment
  • Work closely with developers, testers, and system engineers from multiple product teams
  • Research and suggest new tools/products to the team


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering and / or computer science
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C
  • 5+ years' experience in software development, systems engineering, or integration and test experience
  • Experience with the Linux OS
  • Proficient in common DevSecOps technologies: version control, container management, performance monitoring, deployment, CI/CD, Test Automation.
  • Experience on Automation and CI/CD techniques and design patterns


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Strong Working knowledge of the CI/CD process including debugging, test, and integration of software tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a self-starter that can thrive in a distributed remote work environment
  • Understanding of secure software development methodologies and Security First mindset
  • Understanding of designing and implementing full stack/Microservice infrastructure
  • Experience designing, configuring, and managing a DevSecOps toolchain/workflow (Version Control, Container Management, Performance Monitoring, Deployment & Server Monitoring, Configuration Management, CI/CD, Test Automation, Artifact Management, etc.)


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience) In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
