Boeing is looking for an Associate Airborne Software Engineer based out of Everett or Renton, Washington.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Supports software project management and software supplier management functions.
  • Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics.
  • Performs software research and trade studies.
  • Troubleshoots software issues.
  • Works under general supervision.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Makes use of and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Works under general supervision, and no instructions are needed for routine work. Receives general instructions for special assignments.
  • Work is reviewed for sound technical judgment and overall adequacy.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific project milestones. Failure to achieve results, reaching erroneous decisions or making faulty recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
  • Interacts primarily with internal personnel and infrequently with inter-organizational and external customers on routine matters.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or related technical degree.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience or a masters degree

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in software development, verification or compliance finding activities to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Experience in RTCA DO-178 Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, computer engineering (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
