The Telecare Shelton Evaluation and Treatment (E&T) center will provide intensive mental health and psychiatric treatment services in a secure, welcoming and respectful environment for adults experiencing an acute mental health emergency. Telecare currently operates E&Ts in Thurston, Clark, Skagit, Grays Harbor, and Pierce counties, and looks forward to adding the Shelton community to our family.
We believe recovery starts from within, and that our job is to do whatever it takes to provide the support you need on the journey to recovery in a comfortable, structured environment. Our 16-bed facility includes wraparound support from a multidisciplinary staff who constantly engage with members to maintain a safe environment.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Peer Recovery Coach engages, inspires, and facilitates meaningful conversations with members served that assist the members to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals. Peer Recovery Coaches provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecares Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) in which each members point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Recovery Coaches respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills which support the least restrictive environment for members served experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School Diploma or GED required
Must have either completed or be in the process of completing the State of Washington Certified Peer Specialist and/or completed Peer Support Training.
Two (2) years or part-time equivalent of experience supporting members served with behavioral health challenges
Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care (lived experience).
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment
All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid drivers license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply
Preferred:
Demonstrated ability to perform at a consistently high level as a support worker in a healthcare field
Bilingual/Bicultural a plus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders
Draws upon own personal recovery experience with mental/addiction challenges as a basis for engagement as a peer with members served and to validate members own lived experiences
Consistently utilizes recovery language and a strength-based approach to assist members served to reach their fullest potential
Participates in the planning, organization, and co-facilitation of Recovery Centered Clinical Service (RCCS) materials, self-help and recovery education groups
Provides education and expertise from the perspective of a person with lived experience of mental illness to the team concerning various mental health/addiction recovery experiences
Travels locally to provide outreach to members served in the community
Participates in verbal de-escalation and physical interventions in emergent situations and is willing and able to assist other staff as needed to maintain a safe, healing environment for all
If employed at Inpatient program, must assist with the restraint of members served in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
If employed at Outpatient program, must evade members served in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.
SKILLS
Knowledge of recovery-focused, strengths-based work in mental health/addiction recovery
Be willing to seek to understand members unique circumstances, personal preferences and goals and incorporate them into daily work as well as any needed crisis response to help the member regain a sense of control
Have a strong understanding of recovery and resilience, the value of partnerships with members and member choice, and the balance between protection from harm and personal dignity
Strong knowledge of relevant community resources and methods for accessing them
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, twist, squat, kneel and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit, walk, reach, bend and do simple and power grasping. The position requires manual deviation, repetition, and dexterity.
