Boeing is looking for a Linux Security Software Engineer to support the On-board Network System and CVE Analysis. This position is based out of Seattle, Washington.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.
  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics. Leads software research and development projects.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
  • Trains and mentors others.
  • Works under consultative direction.


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or greater from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or related technical degree field.
  • 3+ years of Linux OS security related development/analysis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 + years of experience with secure boot design.
  • Ability to analyze the impacts of CVEs and internal scan findings.
  • Ability to document findings and present to leadership and developers.
  • Ability to guide the development team on secured development practices.
  • Ability to understand and articulate the systemic impacts of vulnerabilities.
  • Cultural understanding of the OSS (Open Source Software) ecosystem and various sources of available security information.
  • Significant Plus: Demonstrated contributions to existing OSS projects.
  • Significant Plus: Published vulnerability discoveries.
  • 3 + years of C and C development.
  • Comfort in the POSIX style command line environment (e.g. grep/sed/awk, shell semantics, etc).
  • Clear documentation and explanatory skills.


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
