Boeing Phantom Works creates the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business and is currently looking for a Senior DevSecOps Software Engineer (Level 4) to join our team in Tukwila, WA.

We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. We focus on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

As a DevSecOps Software Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain a modern Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) system to build, test and deploy containerized micro services in a fast paced agile environment supporting our proprietary space portfolio. We seek candidates who have proven skills in DevSecOps, software development, test automation, and system automation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance our DevSecOps operations in proprietary environments
  • Collaborate on idea creation and development of the DevSecOps tool chain
  • Support the ongoing lifecycle maintenance of the DevSecOps tool chain
  • Support the software quality efforts of our Boeing product deliveries to our customers
  • Coordinate across multiple teams to ensure DevSecOps functionality integrates with overall program efforts


This position will focus on the following technology areas:
  • Agile IaaS/PaaS product development for cloud platforms
  • Continuous integration, testing, and delivery of software and software factories
  • Automated system testing, integration, and deployment
  • Rolling out upgrades to the software factory as needed


This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or Engineering
  • This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Go, and/or C
  • Education or experience with the Linux OS
  • Experience with industry standard Automation and CI/CD tools and techniques


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Familiarity with Bitbucket, Gitlab, Gitlab-CI, Confluence, Jenkins, Jira
  • TS/SSBI highly desired
  • 5+ years' experience in software development, systems engineering, or integration and test experience with mission systems on tactical platforms
  • Strong Working knowledge of the CI/CD process including debugging, test, and integration of software tools.
  • Understanding of secure software development methodologies and Security First mindset.
  • Understanding of designing and implementing full stack/Microservice infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Istio/Service Mesh
  • Have the ability to set up, and manage a tool-chain using tools such as Jenkins, Gradle, Maven, Artifactory, ELK, SonarQube, Jira, Prometheus, Fluentd, Helm, Terraform, Ansible, DataGrid, JBoss, Cloud Suite, OpenShift, Docker, and more.
  • Understanding of security controls such as DoD RMF, HIPAA, or SOC


This position is best suited to individuals who are self-starters, highly-motivated, work well in fast-paced multi-discipline team environments, and are able to work with quick decisions for the best interest of the business.

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
