Position Description: Clinical/Medical Technologist 1 needed to work in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Clinical Pathology Laboratory at Washington State University. The technologist will rotate through the hematology, chemistry, and other (coagulation, urinalysis, cytology preparation) sections of the hospital laboratory on a routine basis.

Duties: Perform clinical diagnostic laboratory tests on animal samples; record and evaluate test results; contact appropriate personnel for tests with unusual or critical findings. Assure that quality control requirements are met to validate test results, record data as part of a quality assurance program. Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures. Prepare and verify the quality of reagents, standards, and control samples. Utilize institution-based computer system for test result entry and data acquisition. Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine and emergency preventative maintenance to laboratory instruments and related equipment.

Work schedule, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional emergency response on evenings and weekends. Competitive salary and benefits package including paid vacation, sick leave and holidays; medical, dental, and vision insurance; and retirement.

Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology with a curriculum accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education AND accreditation of the American Medical Association AND certification or eligibility to take examination, with successful completion and certification within one year from date of hire, for certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists OR equivalent, OR certification with specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory division OR equivalent education/experience. Successful candidate will be subject to criminal background check. On-site training in evaluation of animal samples will be provided
