Seeking a Community Support Worker (CSW) to work with a high-functioning autistic 17-year-old male under the Family-Directed Services program through the Department of Health and Welfare. The individual is enjoyable to be around and has developed good relationships with previous CSWs.

CSW responsibilities include:

Developing plans and activities to help the individual improve independence.

Coordinating hours and services directly with the individuals parents, logging hours with notes immediately after shifts.

Guiding the individual through successful navigation of normal societal interactions.

Teaching coping skills to assist them in managing their emotions properly.

Demonstrating and providing instruction on appropriate social behavior in various settings.

Transporting the individual to and from work, school, home, and other community locations. CSW must have their own vehicle.

Providing assistance in job-like settings, including: problem solving, written and verbal communication, learning to follow directions, adjusting to changes in routine, and interacting with supervisors and co-workers.

Being available for approximately 3 afternoons after-school work. Other days and times for work shifts to be coordinated directly with individuals parents. Occasional weekend hours may be desired.

A typical shift includes picking up the individual from Moscow High, completing an errand or two at various locations within the community, volunteering with the individual at the animal shelter, and going to a local venue to play Magic the Gathering fantasy card game (the individuals favorite hobby).
