The team is a diverse group of problem solvers, inventors, and proven visionaries who are relentless about transforming everyday occurrences into rich experiences that have the potential to improve the way billions of people live.As an Engineering Manager on the Facebook Reality Labs Audio team you will set the vision for the team, drive the technical road map, and set clear actionable goals. The ideal candidate is an experienced Technical Lead and manager with a background in audio. This manager will also collaborate with Facebook Reality Lab's Research team to plan a path to product impact for new technology.

  • Assist the team to define, build new algorithms and add enhancements to existing algorithms to support human listening, machine listening and other new experiences across Facebook's family of apps & devices.
  • Manage a team of algorithm and software engineers that builds the audio stack for consumer electronics products for Facebook Reality Labs.
  • Define the subjective and objective performance metrics for various core audio algorithm components that ultimately roll into program level KPIs.
  • Experience shipping audio technology for embedded devices with limited resources and design constraints.
  • Dive deep and troubleshoot audio functional performance issues and work with audio QA and triage teams to reproduce, fix and validate the solution.
  • Manage engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement.
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams.
  • Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees.
  • Keep abreast with the latest technological advancements in academia and in industry and bring new innovation to our products.


  • 5+ years of experience in algorithm developer, or system engineer roles catering to embedded/mobile platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • Knowledge in audio capture or render algorithms for consumer devices.
  • Experience in digital signal processing, and working knowledge of audio algorithm applications in real world products.


  • Background in music or sound design.
  • Understanding of audio processing, convolution, DSP, and signal processing.
  • Experience with Unity/C#.
  • Experience with MATLAB, FMOD and/or Wwise.
  • Experience with HRTF and 3D audio technology.
