UW Medical Center- Montlake Cath Lab has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (40 hours per week), CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST. Responsibilities include scrubbing, monitoring and circulating complex interventional cardiology cases. Case types include all complex coronary (PCI, CTO, Brachy), structural heart (TAVR, TMVR, Mitraclip, LAAO, ASD/PFO/VSD), heart failure/transplant (Biopsies, RHC, Impella, Tandem, ECMO, IABP) and adult-congenital procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES The Cardiovascular Technologist performs a variety of cardiac imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. They function as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their cardiac imaging and monitoring needs. Additionally, the person in this role participates in CQI activities. Instructs and prepares patients for cardiac procedures. Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure. Safely and correctly operates radiographic equipment to produce angiographic, digital and other specialized images. Effectively operates complex computerized physiological equipment to monitor and record ECG's and intracardiac pressures during a variety of cardiac procedures. Collects hemodynamic data, oxygen saturations and cardiac outputs using a variety of equipment.Preps and drapes patients following aseptic technique. Performs patient care in an environment that optimizes safety, patient comfort and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Consistently assesses patient pain interfering with the procedure - makes appropriate physician or nurse contact for intervention(s). Accurately injects contrast media under the direct presence and supervision of the Cardiologist performing the procedure. Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Ensures proper technical factors are selected prior to image capture. Ensures all images are properly marked prior to image capture. Inputs patient charges, maintains accurate inventory and assists in the evaluation of new products. Practices required medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Participates in the education and competency training of other staff, fellows and students. Performs quality control testing on a variety of equipment. Takes Cardiac Cath Lab call according to monthly schedule after regular department hours and responds appropriately when called after hours. Performs other related duties as assigned. RCIS, CIS, Cardiovascular Tech, CVT , Registered Cardiovascular Tech, Registered Cardiovascular Technologist, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Tech, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, CV Technologist, RT, ARRT, CI, RCES, Radiologic Technologist, Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Technologist, Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Tech REQUIREMENTS Associate of Arts (AA) degree from an accredited Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) Program AND registration by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) AND Licensure by the State of Washington as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) OR Associate of Arts (AA) degree from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program AND Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) AND Licensure by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license.
