Specialists are responsible for the success of specific functions of Roastery or Reserve store operations. Using their deep knowledge and understanding of assigned specialties, Specialists work cohesively with the greater team to ensure partners have everything they need to deliver the Roastery & Reserve Experience. Specialists may be assigned to one or more specific functional areas of operation. Specialists functional areas may include but are not limited to events, scheduling & administration, merchandising, inventory, and training. Demonstrates a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events and manages smooth transitions thereafter to keep store operating to established standards and to set a positive example for the store team
Contributes to positive team environment
Implements and communicates plans to store team to meet operational and organizational objectives
Constantly scans and assesses store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement. Communicates ideas to the management team for broader areas of improvement. Provides input to the management team regarding standards gaps and opportunities to achieve operational and team goals
Applies operational excellence tools (I.e. Specialist Approach and supporting tools) to appropriately identify and solve store and zone problems
Responds to immediate store and zone needs by utilizing internal resources such as other store specialists and external resources, such as Partner & Asset Protection, Facilities, Partner Resources, Merchandising, and Food & Beverage
Supports store operations by recognizing and reinforcing individual and team accomplishments through existing organizational tools
Understands how to achieve top priorities within their area of expertise and removes barriers to the overall success of the store, balancing competing priorities
Ensures partners have the information, support and context they need to achieve goals and bring the Roastery & Reserve Experience to life.
Engages in conversation with customers to understand their experience and adjust as needed in the moment, identifying trends to continuously improve through awareness, empathy and action
Planning & Execution:Collaborates with store manager team to create targeted plans to achieve established goals and demonstrates agility to adapt to the unexpected
Works with general manager and management team to help inform and develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results
Demonstrates ingenuity and creativity in accomplishing goals when resources are limited or unavailable; can execute a plan without relying on a defined process
Provides input into store staffing levels and decisions to ensure appropriate staffing and scheduling, to maximize partner development, and to deliver the optimal experience for both partners and customers based on functional area of expertise
Utilizes tools to identify and prioritize communications and regularly uses discretion to filter communications to the store team
Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure understanding
Communicates regularly with store leadership team about operational and partner observations, challenges, concerns, insights, and suggestions
Communicates and behaves in a way that promotes a unified store leadership team
Supports general manager and management team in implementing company programs by working directly with partners to execute action plans that meet operational and organization objectives
Specialist managers may have key responsibilities associated with one or more specific functional areas of operation. Specialists functional areas may include but are not limited to:
Events Specialty: Host events, tours, and distinguished guests. Consult with perspective clients on event design, menu options, scheduling, and pricing
Business Requirements:Develops understanding of all operational tools, systems, business analysis and processes to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the store
Communicates observations, actions, outcomes, and follow-up items to management team on a regular basis
Develops and maintains positive relationships with others by understanding and addressing individual motivation, cultural nuances, needs and concerns
Supports management team in ensuring partners adhere to operational compliance requirements
Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational tools and programs to recognize partners
Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
Actively participate in store-related meetings, training sessions, and store visits
Manages service of alcohol according to all state and federal laws and regulations, as well as company and brand and policies and standards
Basic QualificationsProgressively responsible retail or restaurant management experience
21+ years of age
Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
Ability to carry 35lb on a consistent basis
Available to work flexible hours, which could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred QualificationsExperience for appropriate specialty, including:
Scheduling & Administrative Specialty: Experience writing complex schedules for high number of partners
Inform staffing strategies
Processing payroll
Completing audits
Organizing and maintaining employee records/documentation.
Additional languages beneficial
Proficiency using store computer systems and programs
Effective oral & written communication skills
Organization, planning, and prioritization skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
Education: High school/GED
