Propulsion lab activities involve laboratory and aircraft ground testing, and the development and maintenance of propulsion related test facilities to support airplane design, development, certification, research and technology development, delivery, after sales support, and accident investigations in a dynamic and many times emergent environment. Activities are primarily focused on testing of nacelle and low speed aerodynamic models, fuel systems, fuel properties and liquid flow meter calibrations, fire extinguishing and flammability of materials. Responsible for Test activities in the Hazardous Test Facility including test requirements coordination, test planning, test procedures, test scheduling, test setup, test conduct, test reporting on a variety of test activities including fire, fire plus vibration, pressure testing as examples conducted at the facility This position is for a test technician in our Hazardous Test Facility which supports development, engineering and FAA fire certification tests as its primary role. Fire Testing activities include flame resistance, flame propagation, burn through resistance on items such as cargo liners, insulation blankets, seat cushions, fire seals, fireproof materials, and lavatory compartments. Flame propagation in fuels systems, fire containment testing, powerplant component fire testing, and electrical connectors feedthroughs are other examples of testing in this lab. Other specialized testing performed in the lab includes explosion proof testing, fire extinguisher discharge testing, fire testing of factory storage and transportation tools, full scale cargo bay heat transfer testing, full scale fuselage fire suppression and heat transfer testing, hidden area fire testing, lavatory fire extinguishing testing, hydraulic tube thermal degradation testing, engine component testing, tubing burst testing in fire, fuel system check valves and flame arrestor testing. Other hazardous testing in the lab includes lithium ion battery testing, tire burst testing, and lightning protection of fuel systems as examples. The technician is responsible for supporting the day to day testing activities in the laboratory which includes receiving and preparing equipment for testing, test system setup, checkout, test readiness standups, test operations, collecting test data, and posttest teardown and shipment. The test technician will guide a test mechanic in performance of the required hands on tasking to setup and test as well as troubleshooting and resolving laboratory and test-related problems. The technician will also assist in analyzing and publishing test data. The technician interfaces with lab test engineers for overall direction and assistance in resolving any issues associated with the test setups, test support systems, and test data and instrumentation systems. The technician also interfaces with our business partners and other support organizations that are required to perform the testing to coordinate scheduling. The technician must have good technical, people and coordination skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications(Required): An AssociatesDegree or higher 3-5 years in a lab test or similar type environment 3-5 years computer experience with the ability to work in Microsoft Word, basic Excel, Visio or similar programs to support testing activities Desired Qualifications(Preferred): 3-5 years experience working with fluid systems and hardware 3-5 years experience with instrumentation and controls systems Experience in a lab environment with data acquisition systems and hydraulic control software Experience do you have leading or conducting hazardous operations Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).
