Sasquatch Books is seeking an experienced Marketing & Publicity Manager to strategize, plan, and execute digital marketing campaigns and content for our adult titles and coordinate marketing and publicity programs for our new teen/young adult imprint, Spruce Books (launching Fall 2020). The Marketing Manager will be part of a creative and collaborative marketing and publicity team at our thriving small press based in Seattle, WA.Primary responsibilities include creating, executing, monitoring, and analyzing digital and social media campaigns that expand our reach to and engagement with readers through our social media and other online channels. This position will also develop and execute strategic marketing and publicity campaigns for teen and young adult books in the Spruce imprint (8-10 titles/year).The ideal candidate is creative and energetic with experience in book marketing and publicity tactics, especially online and social strategies. We are seeking an original thinker who is well-versed in direct-to-consumer marketing and can engage our target audience with innovative, results-driven campaigns and an authentic brand voice.Primary Job Responsibilities: Develop, plan, and execute compelling online content and campaigns to expand the online presence of our books, authors, and brands in social media and other enthusiast-based communities, and maintain a thorough network of contacts within relevant subject areas. Responsible for day-to-day and strategic marketing of Spruce titles with the objective of increasing sales, gaining brand visibility, and building authentic and results-oriented consumer engagement with our books through online, print, broadcast, and other channels. Marketing and publicity plans include (but are not limited to): media and influencer outreach and relations; review mailing; social media campaigns; consumer engagement in online communities; contests and promotions, and author events. Working with the design team, conceptualize and write social media posts, press kits, advertising copy, and other marketing collateral. Analyze and report on results of marketing initiatives and their impact on sales. Foster positive, collaborative relationships internally and externally with an emphasis on author/illustrator relationships and influencer/key media relationships.Qualifications: 2-5 years’ experience organizing and executing integrated marketing campaigns, particularly on social media. Book marketing experience preferred Results-oriented, self-directed, energetic, organized, creative, with a passion for books and reading Collaborative team player with strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills Demonstrated computer literacy in a variety of digital environments (with some experience in—or a desire to learn more about—current and emerging social platforms for teens) Self-motivated, driven and able to work autonomously Ability to adjust to changes in priorities and balance short-term needs with long-term strategic initiatives Regularly consume media across a variety of categories including book reviews, lifestyle, news and more Willingness to travel as neededPenguin Random House is the leading adult and children’s publishing house in North America, the United Kingdom and many other regions around the world.
