JOB SUMMARY:
The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible for managing the planning and execution of two complex and strategically significant projects, supporting the split out of two business unit(s) into two new corresponding organizational entities. The scope of this work includes the creation of a master project plan that addresses all the technical activities necessary to establish and support a newly independent entity. Aspects of the plan are to include the planning and execution of: All necessary Network and Infrastructure needs, Employee migrations needs, Data and Service’s needs, Operational monitoring and support needs, as well as coordinating and tracking the activities of a website migration from a shared infrastructure to independent infrastructures. The TPM will report into and work primarily with the Technology team, while also coordinating their efforts with the business PM as well as the other necessary business teams and vendors to effectively stand up a new organization(s).

Under minimal direction, the TPM provides project leadership, manages project team deliverables, and partners with Business Project Manager as well as necessary stakeholders across the client to ensure that the new organizational entity is created and stood up within the expected budget, schedule, and quality.

The Technical Project Manager builds strong, mutually respectful partnerships with stakeholders, manages expectations, and ensures effective communication for the decision makers, advocating for the project at all levels of the organization. Provides options analysis and decisioning frameworks to leadership for project-related choices and risk mitigation. The TPM uses well-developed judgment to understand the business environment and shares customer perspective with the project team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:
  • Oversees development of all necessary technical project deliverables (e.g. Technology project charter, Project Plan, Work Breakdown Structure, Roles and Responsibilities, Asset Tracker, Issues Tracker, Status Report, etc.).
  • Ensures execution of all activities to meet the defined scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
  • Anticipates project specific risks and minimizes impact of change on project delivery.
  • Compares actual performance with planned performance and implement appropriate corrective action if needed.
  • Project closeout: Conducts lessons learned and hands-off work for sustainability.

Communication/Leadership:
  • Facilitates meetings and communications throughout the project lifecycle to build project momentum and ensure transparency of relevant project information to appropriate audiences.
  • Establishes and nurtures relationships with customers and project stakeholders/sponsors.
  • Prepares and delivers executive level briefings and/or decision support as required.

Change Management:
  • Enables sponsors to be effective change agents.
  • Defines change and change management approaches, including identification of interdependencies with other planned work efforts.
  • Coordinates with people managers, partners, vendors, and project sponsorship to ensure project is appropriately resourced and resources and/or tools are effectively managed to achieve project objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Project Management Best Practices – Solid knowledge and expertise utilizing standard project management and change management frameworks for successful project delivery across the full project lifecycle.
  • Org Building Exposure – Experienced in the creation of new businesses, startup management, or business spinouts. Previous experience in mergers in acquisitions and back-office or shared service governance also preferred.
  • Business Knowledge – Understands the business benefits of the project and the linkage between project/program goals and organizational strategy and drivers.
  • Verbal and written communication – Excellent communicator using a variety of communication techniques, channels, and applications.
  • Team Leadership – Proven ability to mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; coach performance; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Relationship Management – Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; empathetic and creative manager able to listen to and understand partner interests and concerns and proactively plan to address them
