Moshi Moshi is a busy Japanese restaurant and bar in the heart of historic Ballard. We have a small, tight-knit team and are looking for the right person to join our family. This person must be someone who is passionate and experienced in serving/bartending which includes making drinks (craft and classic cocktails), taking/entering/packing to-go orders, bussing, hosting, AND taking tables as we cross-train all of our FoH team and our COVID business model requires everyone to do a little bit of everything. The right candidate must have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and food/drink to provide our guests with the best experience. This is NOT a position where you will be just behind the bar.
We currently have about 3-4 shifts (15-20 hours or so) to start, SUNDAYS REQUIRED, with plenty of potential for more as we are able to re-open business. We have some sidewalk seating outdoors (with plans to have more as the weather warms) and seating in an upstairs mezzanine, so you MUST BE IN GOOD PHYSICAL HEALTH, able to go up and down stairs several times in a shift. Our full menu is extensive so previous sushi/Japanese experience is a big, big plus, and a willingness to study the menu is required in order to succeed. An interest in Japanese cuisine and spirits (sake, whiskey, etc.) is also a big plus.
Ideal qualifications: 2 years serving AND bartending experience, clean and organized, strong customer service skills, bar knowledge, solid craft and classic cocktail knowledge, flexible schedule, work fast and clean while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. MUST ADHERE TO STRICT COVID PREVENTION RULES. Must be okay with dogs (you'll be right at home if you love them!) as we allow them in our outdoor area.
Starting wage is $15/hour, plus generous tips (varies, but usually in the range of $12-$18/hour). We offer holiday pay, Seattle-mandated sick time, free Teledoc and other health benefits. Due to COVID we are currently pooling and distributing tips based on hours worked.
