Employee takes charge of food preparation and performs excellent food service at the Navy snack bar operation facilities. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.

Summary of Duties: Sets up food service counters, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and gold good. Serves tables’ family-style; makes coffee; variety of fruit and vegetable salads, simple sandwiches and ensures food is served in standard portions. Maintains water and detergent levels in dishwasher, removes strainer pans, inspects doors, etc. for proper cleaning of dishwasher inside and out. May unload food from delivery trucks and move heavy garbage cans. May operate cash register and be responsible for own change fund. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Knowledgeable in food storage and sanitation requirements. Must be able to use simple kitchen equipment and common kitchen utensils. Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for salads and other menu items. Simple arithmetic and the ability to read instructions required. Must be able to operate a cash register. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate. This position is subject to background check in accordance with federal regulations.

Conditions of Employment: Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as lifting and constant standing and walking. Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds to occasional lifting up to 45 pounds. Must be available and willing to work any shifts during restaurant operation 5:00am to 9:00pm, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Hours subject to change.
