Catering Chef Job Description
The catering chef works closely with sales team, event planners and owners to prepare a variety of food options for diverse functions and events per client requirements and specifications, company standards and vision, all within appropriate cost structures.
The primary responsibility of the catering chef is to provide the highest possible standard of catering cuisine to the clients by managing all aspects of food preparation. Other important day-to-day duties include assisting with and producing catering menus and development of new menus, maintaining a safe, hygienic and sanitary work environment consistent with governmental regulations, food inventory and purchasing, preparing appetizing food in a timely manner, minimizing raw material and food wastage, controlling food and labor costs and presenting food attractively. The catering chef may also assist in training junior chefs and kitchen support staff.
To apply for a catering chef job, a candidate must be a graduate of a culinary school or possess a culinary diploma. Prior catering experience (2+ years) is a must. Other prerequisites of the job are good communication, organizational and presentation skills.

Key Duties:
Directs the preparation of food for all catering events, including direct prep
Weigh and measures designated ingredients.
Properly stores foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures.
Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils; distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
Utilizes approved food production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
Set up station or section in time for service.
Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner; resolves customer concerns with regards to food.
Interacts with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards, inventory
Assures compliance with all sanitation, and safety requirements., and cost control
Must have driver's license, reliable transportation, current Washington State food handlers card.
Must have vast knowledge in food preparation, techniques and multi-cultural cuisine.
Food presentation skills and food quality/integrity are a must!
Required Qualifications:
2 years of equivalent experience working in a high volume or catering kitchen.
Understanding of typical culinary units of measure.
Strong communication and organizational skills, including ability to communicate in Spanish.
Passion for creating beautiful and high-quality menu items
General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen practices and health guidelines
Ability to be on your feet for extended amounts of time
Ability to communicate routinely by phone
Evening and weekend availability
Ability to work effectively with all aspects of the business, operations, sales and accounting.
