Madly growing and located in Ballard, we are seeking a full-time Media Relations Manager to join our team. If you love media relations, having ownership of a program while working in a collaborative fast-paced environment, and want to disrupt the status quo, this might be the role for you!
Our Media Relations Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a media relations program that educates consumers about the benefits of ebikes and builds on Rad Power Bikes position as the category leader. This role will report into our Senior Public Relations & Communications Manager.
4+ years of direct experience designing the media strategy, conducting outreach and securing earned coverage in top tier business, consumer, and technology press
Proven ability to build relationships with journalists and a strong desire to work with the press on a proactive and reactive basis
Highly adaptable, able to manage multiple deadline-driven projects and make tough decisions on priorities when needed
Great communicator, a brand ambassador, and possess the know-how and initiative to get the job done while telling Rad Power Bikes’ story with consistent messaging and aggressive earned media goals
A deep understanding of the media, media climate, and news cycle
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Experience working in a startup environment
Experience working with a D2C or omnichannel brand
Experience with bikes, ebikes, or electric vehicles
Worked with the team to divide and conquer management of inbound inquiries with a wide range of press, including vetting the opportunity, providing a recommendation based on current resources and priorities and drafting proposed responses
End-to-end management of executive interviews with top tier national business press (developed briefing materials, created talking points, prepared the spokesperson, managed follow-up, etc.)
Created and executed the consumer press strategy for two new product launches
Worked with internal teams to turn technical product details into a value proposition that gives consumers who have never heard of ebikes before a reason to believe and consider
Developed content for press releases, messaging frameworks, pitches, etc.
Kept a pulse on the industry and cultural trends affecting the business and made appropriate Proactively pitched stories about the brand and its leaders, commercial division, company announcements, and product releases to maintain a steady drumbeat of earned media coverage
Leveraged existing relationships and cultivated new contacts within business, technology and lifestyle media
Leveraged content created by marketing team throughout media relations
Monitored, analyzed, and communicated PR results, then provided go-forward recommendations based on learnings
