Job Summary
The ideal Laser Programmer / Nester will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings and hand sketches provided by lead installers, as well as programming, preparing, and scheduling sheet-metal parts for laser cutting. This role requires a solid understanding of sheet-metal manufacturing, experience with AutoCAD software, and a willingness to learn and work with TruTops nesting software.
The position works closely with the Laser Operator, Manufacturing Manager, Production Supervisor, and Purchasing Department to establish priorities and maintain raw material inventory. The successful candidate is a quick learner with a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and the flexibility to take on a variety of tasks to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.

Duties and Responsibilities.
Nest and schedule laser cutting jobs.
Assist laser operator at the machine
Minimize waste and optimize use of full sheets of steel.
Maintain inventory of material.
Generate fabrication drawing and parts
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files.
Interpret and convert hand sketches from installers into AutoCAD files to be used in the nesting software.
Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure all programs meet design and production requirements.
Troubleshoot programming and machine-related issues to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate records of programs, setups, and process parameters.
Stay current on Trumpf technologies and recommend process improvements for productivity and quality.
Participate in departmental meetings and cross-training as needed.
Follow all company procedures, manuals, and safety rules.
Additional duties as assigned by the manufacturing manager and shop floor lead.
Requirements
Good AutoCAD knowledge
Ability to interpret drawings and hand sketches.
Working knowledge of bending deductions
Working knowledge of sheet metal
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Must be able to work independently.

Physical Demands:
A 40-hour work week is expected, with additional overtime hours required based on workload. This position requires standing, sitting, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, climbing, and reaching overhead. This position requires constant lifting of 10-20lbs, with occasional lifting up to 75lbs. It requires manual dexterity, and normal range of hearing and vision.
Typical mental demands:
Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action given the situation. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
Working environment:
Works in a shop setting. The area is temperature controlled. Noise levels vary depending on equipment assembling but can be loud at times. Travel may be required for training.

Steel-toed boots/shoes and safety glasses are required.
