MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or equivalent
Knowledge of transition process for students with disabilities
Effective communications skills
Ability to tutor students at job sites
Ability to physically restrain students
Dexterity and precision
Ability to stand for prolonged periods
Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, families and community
Prefer Spanish speaking
Valid Washington State drivers license (eligible to be trained to drive district van)
First Aid/CPR certification
Experience working with individuals with disabilities in community setting preferred
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: These positions are for 6.5 hours of work per day (plus a 30 minute unpaid lunch period) with some flexibility in work hours for 176 days per year providing support and assistance to students with disabilities under the direction of a certificated teacher in a special education setting and in the community. Responsibilities include tutoring students in on-the-job training activities and societal skills, maintaining program records, assisting students with personal care needs, and lifting or carrying students. The position may require working outdoors in inclement weather to load and unload students from buses. For the 2019-2020 school year, Professional Technical/ Career Specialist pay level begins at $24.93 per hour.
