ESTIMATOR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Estimator will work with construction management operations in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications. They will support the Companys procurement efforts through estimating and bidding new projects.
An additional responsibility is to communicate financial cost and project timelines. Accountable for achieving company and project-level goals.
Develop estimates and bids while analyzing risks for TRICO projects, which includes visiting new sites, existing buildings and attend pre-bid or client meetings.
Compute costs by analyzing Contract Documents, subcontract, labor, material and time requirements.
Complete quantity take-off/surveys to gather information for estimates and assemble bid packages.
Prepare estimates in a timely manner with Project Managers/Engineers as needed, which includes taking the lead on formatting estimate, quantities, preparation and follow-up.
Read plans and specifications, understand scope of work to bid and prepare Cost Analysis.
Further develop B2W Estimating System, which includes providing training to team members and manage system moving forward.
Train others on estimating procedures and process (help create consistency within the team).
Create and maintain up to date Estimate templates, files, documents & procedures.
Set-up and maintain productivity rates and Subcontractor units rates for estimating.
Evaluate / qualify Subcontractors and Vendors to ensure they meet TRICO Standards before obtaining their bids.
Develop relationships with clients, design consultants, subcontractors and suppliers in accordance with TRICO values.
Collaborate with design professionals and project team during estimate preparation to ensure overall accuracy.
Ability to prepare estimates for all phases of design from Conceptual with limited information to final Construction Documents.
Review Constructability with Project Team and analyze as well as prepare alternate solutions when needed.
Present estimates to project teams and clients in organized manner.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator with a keen attention to detail.
Degree in construction management or similar degree / experience.
Possess an in-depth knowledge of project management and the construction process.
Highly developed communication, organizational and estimating skills, including experience in estimating projects over 25 million, successful delivery of estimates for Design-Build projects from feasibility to final construction.
Computer skills: proficiency Estimating Software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project) and in Bluebeam or similar software.
Ability to multitask and handle multiple estimates at once, which could be various smaller projects and/or one large project.
Adept at working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting as well as exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
Ability to interact with Owners, Design Consultants, Subcontractors and Vendors on a professional level while demonstrating strong negotiation skills.
Exceptional preconstruction, marketing, market development, sales and client management skills.
Excellent problem solving, presentation and written as well as verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bid2Win, Egnyte, On Screen Takeoff and Building Connect Software experience is preferred.
Experience with ComputerEase accounting software a plus.
Contract management knowledge would be beneficial.
