SUMMARY: The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for facilitating and overseeing all aspects of plant sanitation. The Sanitation Supervisor will provide oversight of the sanitation crews, insuring that the plant is clean in accordance with all customer specifications and regulatory requirements. The position will work in a coordinated effort with Quality Assurance staff, Plant Manager, Plant Production Manager and Production Supervisors to maintain the highest level of cleanliness, product safety, efficiency and profitability. Monitors chemical usage, water usage, maintains written sanitation records and works with outside pest control company.

Essential Functions:

Daily sanitation of all processing lines.

Training of sanitation personnel, including cleaning procedures, proper use of PPE, and cleaning chemicals.

Perform monthly chemical inventories.

Maintain daily, monthly and yearly written sanitation records.

Monitors inside and outside pest control traps and light traps weekly.

Work with Plant Manager to maintain schedule of sanitation personnel.

Maintains brush and bucket program.

Responsible for reviewing all cleaning procedures and updates for SSOP book.

Maintain MSDS book in Sanitation Area.

Daily reading and weekly samples from Process Water Pond.

Make sure all processing waste finds it way to the proper receptacle, cardboard to recycle, plastic pails to recycle, food waste to red drums and paper garbage etc to dumpster. Maintain dock area and perimeter of processing facility.

Works in a safe manor and follows all safety regulations.

Develop and maintain effective communications between Corporate Management, other employees, and any other individuals that affect the operations of the farm.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Perform related duties as required.

Supervisory: This position has direct supervisory responsibilities over Sanitation personnel.

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: The limits of authority are as directed by the immediate supervisor, but at a minimum, authority of this position is constrained by the resources provided by the direct supervisor and Corporate Management. Specifically, all contractual/verbal agreements and/or decisions that extend beyond resources provided must be coordinated at a minimum with your immediate supervisor.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED (or ability to obtain within 2 years of assignment to this position). A minimum of 2 years experience in a lead position. Must speak English, bi-lingual preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted that provides the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.

Ability to follow instructions and use effective time management and organizational skills.

Must have basic understanding of inventory methods.

Good mathematical skills required to be able to measure and calculate dilutions of chemicals.

Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to train and lead employees with a wide range of skill sets, educational levels and work experiences.

Ability to adapt, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in production schedule.

Demonstrated ability to safely operate forklifts.

Ability to maintain a safe work environment.

Must handle in a constructive manner, the multiple business, organizational, and interpersonal changes or stresses that may exist in the employee’s work, work processes, dealing with other personnel, and supervision (provided or received). (“Work processes” include, but are not limited to, how work is performed, supervised or distributed; how problems are solved; and how decisions are made.)

Must adapt, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State driver’s license. CPR and First Aid certification required within 6 months of employment.
