Manage the Fleet of Farm Equipment and mechanics in the largest & fastest growing vegetable farming company in Western Washington!

Job Title: Farm Equipment Fleet Maintenance Manager

Responsible To: Director of Farming Operations

SUMMARY: The Farm Equipment Fleet Maintenance Manager will coordinate and oversee the maintenance and repair of all farm equipment and vehicles. Tasks include overseeing the fleet, maintenance staff and advising the Director of Farming Operations on all major equipment purchase considerations. Develops and maintains a fleet maintenance program. Directs the daily activities of the technicians at the various farm shops. All other related duties and responsibilities as directed or assigned.

Supervisory:

Prioritizes, directs and evaluates the work of the technicians in the various Skagit Valley Farm maintenance shops.

Qualifications:

Five years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, with at least two years of supervisory experience

Demonstrated leadership in equipment maintenance

Demonstrated proficiency in organization and execution of operational plans

Must possess a valid Washington State drivers license & be able to arrive to work on time

Must have a demonstrated desire to learn and teach

Must be able to communicate in the English language

Ability to communicate in Spanish desired

Specific Responsibilities:

Prioritizes and coordinates the daily maintenance/repair of the fleet.

Diagnoses mechanical problems on trucks, tractors, harvesters, planters, heavy equipment, pickups and a variety of other farm equipment

Assigns work projects and directs the maintenance and repair of engines, equipment and other mechanical systems.

Plans for routine maintenance on seasonally used equipment (planters, side dressers, harvesters)

Develops other mechanics in their area or work by instruction, coaching and training in maintenance repair, preventative maintenance and service of equipment.

Purchases shop equipment, tools, repair parts and supplies within the guidelines of the annual operating budget.

Monitors work in accordance with sound safety practices.

Develops specifications for and purchases new equipment.

Maintains accurate records for all maintenance and repair activities of the fleet.

Oversees the continuing inventory levels of all parts and fuel according to company policy.

Develops, implements, and maintains a computerized Fleet Maintenance Program.

Coordinates the sale or disposal of surplus equipment.

Responsible for the management of all shop buildings and equipment storage buildings

Develops and implements safety program for maintenance workers and others in the shop

Additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned

The Farm Maintenance Manager is expected to exhibit actions at work and in the community, which are compatible with job expectations and requirements.

The Farm Maintenance Manager is expected to attend routine production and planning meetings and annual planning sessions as they occur.

The Farm maintenance Manager is expected to participate as member of the leadership team of the larger management team of Skagit Valley Farm and affiliate companies and to serve those who work in his department.
