Doe Bay Resort & Retreat on Orcas Island, WA is recruiting a full-time, year-round Facilities Lead Technician position. This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for project management only - paperwork, scheduling and purchasing is all taken care of by the Facilities Manager. This is a problem-solving, in-the-field position that leads a crew of 2-4 workers in carrying out tasks as set forth by the Facilities Manager.
On-site housing is available for $350/month in a converted schoolbus. The bus includes a queen bed, shower, sink, propane range and wood stove. The bus is wired for electrical service. The bus does not have a toilet. Off-site housing is an option; however, securing housing on Orcas Island can be quite difficult.
Minimum Qualifications:
4+ years building trades experience.
Strong plumbing skills.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in time management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes.
Recognizes an emergency situation and takes appropriate action.
Able to establish and maintain a cooperative working relation.
Able to use sound judgment; work independently, with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities include:
Works with the Facilities and General Managers to oversee repair and maintenance of 38 acre property with 40 buildings, 35 campsites and spa with soaking tubs and sauna
Assists in the implementation of maintenance plans with consideration to operational and budgetary constraints.
Completes work orders and daily projects as assigned by Facilities Manager
Able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, with impending deadlines and/or established timeframes.
